- 1. The Limerick Online Championship 2021 will be run as a substitute for the usual Limerick Club Championship under similar rules to the over the board competition. It will be a seven round Swiss tournament (entry permitting) with one round played per week.
- While lichess supports Swiss tournaments, they are mainly aimed at Blitz or Rapid events played in a single session. To accomodate a more flexible schedule, we will have to do the draw offline and post the draw for each round on the club website.
- 2. Entry: To enter please email your name and lichess account name to limerickchessclub@aspennet.ie before midnight Tuesday 19th January. If you are not an existing Limerick Chess club member please include a contact phone number.
- 3. Schedule: One game per week starting from Thursday 21st January. The draw for each round will be published each Thursday on the Limerick Chess Club website (www.limerickchessclub.net)
- All game results must be emailed by both players to limerickchessclub@aspennet.ie by the following Wednesday night. Any games not reported in time will be recorded as a walkover (0 points) for both players
- 4. Games: All games will be played on the lichess server (www.lichess.org)
at a time agreed by both players. Contact information for all players will be available on the Limerick Chess Club website (www.limerickchessclub.net).
If no alternative time is agreed the game will be expected to be played at 7.30 pm on the Wednesday night.
- If you prefer a different day or time please contact your opponent to agree on an alternative. Please try to accomodate juniors or people whose work hours make the default times unsuitable. If you need to contact an opponent you will get their contact details from the club website. Contact the Secretary or other committee members if you need access.
- 5. To play your opponent, log in to lichess, click on Play, then click on play a friend to start the game by issuing a challenge to your opponent at the agreed date and time. Remember to adjust the settings for the correct time control etc. A maximum default time of fifteen minutes is allowed i.e. if your opponent does not log in to lichess within fifteen minutes of the agreed time you may claim a walkover. If you are unable to make it for an agreed game please please let your opponent know if possible.
- 6. Time Limits: 75 minutes plus 15 seconds per move increment. Juniors under 18 may request a one hour plus 15 seconds per move increment if they wish.
- 7. Eligibility: As this competition is a substitute for the normal club championship entry is restricted to members (including recent new members and associated members) who would normally be eligible, who are also members of the Limerick Chess Club online.
- 8. Rating: Games will be automatically rated on the lichess server. The results won't be rated by the ICU.
- 9. Other issues: Any other issues or disputes will be resolved by the Limerick Chess Club Committee. Please email limerickchessclub@aspennet.ie if you have any questions.
